Hypnosis can also affect internal diseases and, above all, psychosomatic diseases, wrote in December 1971.
In December 1971: Hypnosis is effective in about 85 percent of people. It can be used in surgeries as a method of anesthesia and as a treatment for pain. The narrow uterine mouth is made painless to open during childbirth using suggestion.
Hypnosis can also affect internal diseases and, above all, psychosomatic diseases, says Suomen Lääkärilehdet.
Dr. Claes Cedercreutz states in the paper that hypnotherapy should be used considerably more than at present. According to him, every specialty should have its own hypnotherapist, because it does not seem meaningful that a psychiatrist, for example, treats rashes or a surgeon menstrual disorders.
So far, about 40 doctors in Finland use hypnosis to a limited extent in addition to their actual work. A quarter of them are psychiatrists, a quarter are specialists in various fields and the rest are general practitioners.
The Hamina Region Hospital is reportedly the only non-psychiatric hospital where hypnosis is used every day, says its chief physician Claes Cedercreutz.
He writes that whenever a symptom and pain returns, the patient can be taught to hypnotize himself and thus eliminate the pain. He himself has adapted the method so that the patient can fall into hypnosis by listening to the pre-spoken tape and thus get help with his symptoms.
