What is going to end was certainly not an easy season for the Haas team. After the splendid exploit of 2018, which culminated with a surprising fifth place in the constructors’ classification, the American team has taken the step of the shrimp, coming ninth in 2019 and 2020. The current year, with two rookie drivers at the wheel and a single-seater that it was practically never developed by the team, it was a transitional season announced. The team managed by Gunther Steiner did not win even a point in the World Championship and the only flashes were represented by two entries in Q2 conquered by Mick Schumacher.
The young German driver, on the occasion of the last weekend of the year, wanted to send a message to all the women and men of the team, thanking them for their hard work which unfortunately was not adequately rewarded by the performances on the track. Thus, in the evocative setting of Yas Marin, between the natural sunset lights and the artificial ones of the spotlights scattered along the circuit, Schumacher wore a celebratory helmet, electric blue, studded with a myriad of golden stars. 251, to be precise. Through Twitter it was he himself who explained the meaning of this gesture and that number. “251 stars representing the great and hardworking people of the Haas”, wrote the F2 2020 champion, thus paying homage to his team.
