At least 19 people died and another 30 were injured on Friday in an attack by a suicide bomber inside a school in western Kabul, Afghanistan. The institution is mainly attended by members of the Shia Hazara minority. At the time of the attack, hundreds of students were in the building.

Eyewitnesses told EFE that the terrorist detonated his explosives in the women’s wing of a classroom.

The explosion occurred inside one of the classrooms during a preparatory test for university entrance exams, when the school was packed with students, according to Kabul police.

“Students started screaming and running, and suddenly the shooter entered the classroom through the girls’ wing (…) and blew himself up among the students”, a witness told Efe. “He blew himself up among the girls, and most of the victims are girls too,” she pointed out. The attack has yet to be claimed by any terrorist group.
