German Chancellor Scholz says he expects to stay in office for another term
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, when asked how long he wants to stay in power, said he expects to realize the opportunity to stay in office for another term, reports RIA News.
“If I were to calculate now – taking office and how old I will be if I work for a very, very long time, I think there are grounds for modesty. But I want to make sure that we meet the challenges before us, which are very, very difficult right now, and do it so well and make such progress for our country that I will get another mandate. It would be nice,” he said.
He also added that he does not consider it necessary to impose restrictions on the term of office of chancellor in the country.
Earlier it became known that Scholz, before the start of the Russian special operation, promised Russian President Vladimir Putin that Ukraine would not be accepted into NATO for at least another 30 years. He also assured the Russian president that the North Atlantic Alliance had never posed a threat to Moscow.
