German Chancellor Scholz announced a consensus with Zelensky on refusing strikes on Russia
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced that he had reached a consensus with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on refusing to strike Russian territory with Western weapons. About it informs Bild edition.
The journalist asked the Chancellor whether there was an agreement with Zelensky that weapons supplied by the West would be used only on the territory of Ukraine and would not be used for strikes against Russia. “There is a consensus on this issue,” the Chancellor replied.
Also earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron said that Ukraine should not strike at the territory of Russia from weapons supplied to it by the West. The politician named one of the criteria for the supply of weapons and equipment to the Armed Forces of Ukraine – they should not lead to an escalation of the conflict.
That is, the weapons we supply should not strike Russian territory.
Response to possible strikes on Russia
Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia Dmitry Medvedev threatened in the event of Ukraine’s strikes on the Crimea. Military correspondent Nadana Friedrichson asked the politician if Bloomberg was right, which believes that Russia will negotiate after the US allows Kyiv to strike in Crimea.
The result will be just the opposite. There will be no negotiations in this case, there will only be retaliation strikes. All Ukraine remaining under the rule of Kyiv will burn
If the United States really wanted to end the military conflict it provoked, Medvedev said, he could do it with the snap of a finger. However, in his opinion, the American authorities are simply not interested in this.
Medvedev also said that Russia is ready to use all types of weapons in the event of Ukraine’s attacks on its territories. He stated that the response of the Russian side to strikes against its territory would be swift, tough and convincing.
We do not set ourselves any restrictions and, depending on the nature of the threats, we are ready to use all types of weapons. In accordance with our doctrinal documents, including the Fundamentals of Nuclear Deterrence. I can assure you: the answer will be fast, tough and convincing
Oleg Kryuchkov, adviser to the head of Crimea on information policy, also assessed Kyiv’s threat to launch a missile attack on the peninsula with the words “barking from under the sofa.”
A typical Ukrainian story is to bark at Russia from under the sofa, and at night think about how to sell your homeland at a higher price.
Weapons of the West
In January, the US government decided to send 31 Abrams tanks to Ukraine as part of a new military aid package that would also include ammunition, spare parts and training for Ukrainian crews.
Today I announce that the United States will send 31 Abrams tanks to Ukraine, the equivalent of one Ukrainian battalion.
The American authorities were forced to take this step because of the ultimatum of Scholz, who said that Germany would not give consent to the transfer and re-export of Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine without a corresponding decision from Washington on the supply of American tanks. At the same time, the Pentagon previously refused to supply Abrams to Ukraine due to the fact that these tanks are difficult to maintain and consume a lot of fuel.

The positive decision regarding the re-export of German armored vehicles aroused support among Ukraine’s allies from among the members of the North Atlantic Alliance. Spain (53 tanks), Portugal (4 tanks) and Poland (14 tanks) also joined the initiative to supply Leopard 2 tanks.
Ukraine will also receive 14 British Challenger 2 tanks. The decision to send them was made by British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. It is expected that four tanks will be immediately sent to Ukraine, and the remaining eight – within 2-3 months.
Also in February, ten French-made AMX 10-RC light wheeled tanks will arrive in Ukraine.
