Kamiya goes back to talking about Scalebound.
Last weekend in a video interview Hideki Kamiya apologized to Microsoft for the failed development of Scalebound. The game was one of the big announcements of Microsoft And Platinum Games in the early years of the Xbox One’s life and although the game was shown running, it was later canceled permanently. The Scalebound IP belongs to Microsoft and since its cancellation to date, several rumors have emerged about its resurrection, but all have led to nothing.
In line with the latest statements by the director of Platinum Games, through social networks it has expanded more details on what happened in its development. Through an exchange of tweets on his account, the Developer One user stated that Scalebound in 2014 was a very ambitious project and that only now it would be feasible.
Hideki Kamiya replied with a simple “It is so”, but which therefore suggests that the time to develop Scalebound was not really ripe. The team following this cancellation worked on NieR which led to great success.

Of course, that doesn’t mean there’s a chance that Microsoft and Platinum Games will return to Scalebound work. The reality is that at the time of the cancellation the relationship between the two companies was somehow compromised, Microsoft placed many expectations in this exclusive development and Platinum Games did not know how to find a solution.
