It’s certainly not the best of starts for the new “pink” era. The Women’s World Championship debuted this weekend in Misano for its historic first race. However, the first heat was interrupted after 6 laps due to a bad accident involving Mia Rusthen. The Norwegian driver crashed at Turn 16, but the dynamics of the accident are not yet clear.
Rusthen was immediately rescued on the track and the race was stopped only to be postponed until the end of the day. Having stopped for a long time on the curve where the accident occurred, two ambulances then transported the pilot directly to the Medical Center area. From there, she was taken by helicopter, where she was transported to Bufalini Hospital in Cesena for further treatment and checks.
The information arriving from the official bodies confirms a head injury, after having anticipated a polytrauma in the initial information. For this reason, transport to Bufalini in Cesena, specialized in this type of treatment. The hospital confirmed that they had stabilized the pilot, although it was not confirmed whether she was conscious or not.
Rusthen, born in Norway, races with her team (Rusten Racing Team), with which she embarked on the adventure in the WCR, the new championship dedicated to women. Until last year you participated with the Trasimeno team in the WEC, the European women’s championship.
Further updates coming soon.
