Winning at home has a special flavor, but doing it at the home of your direct rival in the championship is perhaps even more satisfying. Toprak Razgatlioglu can say it loudly, who after triumphing in the first heat and in the Superpole Race, dominated Race 2 in Misano. The Turk returned to score a hat-trick for the first time since the 2022 Indonesian round and today’s is the first hat-trick with BMW (also the brand’s first).
With the triumph of the Misano round, Razgatlioglu increased his lead in the championship, reaching 21 points over Nicolò Bulega, who tried to slow down the Turk’s progress. The Aruba.it Racing – Ducati rider took the lead at the start and attempted to dictate the pace. On the eighth lap, however, he was overtaken by the championship leader, who then went on to win with almost three seconds of advantage, relegating Bulega to second position.
Completing the podium was Alvaro Bautista, never really fighting for the win and seven seconds behind the winner. With today’s third place, the Spaniard has lost second place in the championship, displaced by teammate Nicolò Bulega, who is ahead of him by 3 points. The reigning world champion, with a great effort, managed to take third place, beating a solid Alex Lowes: the Kawasaki rider was always fighting in the top positions, despite paying for almost ten seconds on the finish line.
Behind the Lowes Kawasaki we find Andrea Locatelli, once again better than the Yamahas. The man from Bergamo finished Race 2 in fifth position, while his teammate Jonathan Rea continues to struggle and did not go beyond tenth place, almost thirty seconds behind the winner and leader of the championship. The six-time world champion remained behind Remy Gardner, eighth. Almost all the Yamahas in the top 10 with the exception of Dominique Aegerter, who broke his engine for the second time over the weekend.
Danilo Petrucci also placed in the top ten positions: the Barni driver was stoic and fought against the pain, managing to finish all the races of the weekend after returning from injury. Furthermore, the rider from Terni was the best of the independent riders thanks to the sixth position achieved fighting with Axel Bassani, seventh at the finish line. Iker Lecuona also put in a good performance as he managed to get ninth place on the Honda.
For the first time this weekend, the best of the independent riders is not Andrea Iannone. Many difficulties for the Goeleven rider, who with a lightning start put himself in second position, but then committed a series of errors that relegated him to the center of the group. The rider from Vasto remained outside the top 10, finishing in 11th position. Difficulties also for Michael Ruben Rinaldi, who crashed at Turn 4 on the first lap, but then returned to the track to cross the finish line in 16th position. Michele Pirro also crashed on the last lap.
