While still under contract with Ducati until the end of the year, Scott Redding had the opportunity to ride the BMW M1000RR for the first time this week, to begin preparing for his third season in World Superbike.
Before this test in Estoril, Redding had the opportunity to familiarize himself with the road version of the S1000RR on the Valencia circuit, just to try to understand the basic characteristics of BMW.
It is in fact a motorcycle that is equipped with a four-cylinder in-line engine, which therefore has a very different character from the V4 of the Ducati Panigale V4 R with which it has raced in the last three years (the first in the BSB).
The announcement of the passage of Redding among the ranks of BMW was announced in August, when the rumors related to the return to Borgo Panigale of the prodigal son Alvaro Bautista had already taken shape.
The British rider will team up with Michael van der Mark, taking over from 2013 champion Tom Sykes, who is currently still evaluating his options in BSB or MotoAmerica for next season.
Redding left Ducati after taking 12 wins and a total of 37 podiums in two years, also finishing as vice-champion in his debut season in 2020.
BMW, on the other hand, has only taken one win since officially returning to the World Championship in 2019, but it was mainly thanks to van der Mark’s skills in the wet at Portimao.
