The current concession system prevents Michele Pirro from participating in MotoGP races as a wild card. Ducati, having dominated far and wide in the last two years, cannot benefit from any concessions and will not be able to participate in the premier class races in 2024.
However, we will still be able to see the Ducati tester in action on the race fields: the Apulian veteran will in fact be present at Misano, where he will take part in the fourth round of the World Superbike season. Pirro will wear the colors of the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team, alongside the starting pair of Alvaro Bautista and Nicolò Bulega.
The Misano World Circuit is now the home track for Pirro, who has already raced here this year, in the opening round of the Italian Speed Championship: the Ducati rider is in fact dominating the season, having won four races out of four contested and confirming himself as the ‘man to beat. He also carried out several test sessions at Misano, the last one in preparation for the round that awaits him this weekend.
The Superbike will thus have one more home rider than the usual ones who will try to wave the tricolor from the top step of the podium. Precisely on the occasion of the tests carried out in Misano, Pirro wanted to announce his presence as a wild card in the Superbike World Championship through a video message: “Hi guys, we are in Misano, where we filmed with both the MotoGP and the Superbike. It was interesting to test the bikes on the same track.”
“Now we focus on the Superbike, because we will be on track for the World Championship race with the Aruba team. There will be a third bike together with those of Nicolò Bulega and Alvaro Bautista. We try to do our best, I’m happy because with each lap the feeling improves. I’m waiting for you, greetings to everyone!”, concludes the Ducati tester, ready to return to action on the world stage.
