SBK | Petrucci resigned: “I was afraid I wouldn't be able to tell it”

The worst is over for Danilo Petrucci. The rider from Terni was finally discharged from the Torrette Hospital in Ancona, where he had been hospitalized since last Thursday, when he was the victim of a bad accident while training on a cross motorbike in Cingoli, in which he suffered a fracture of his right collarbone and the mandible.

The Barni Racing Team rider in the Superbike World Championship underwent two different surgeries in recent days, which had positive results, and today he was finally able to return home.

Once out of the hospital, he released a video on his social channels to take stock of the situation with all his fans who have shown him great closeness in recent days. “Petrux” explained in detail his injuries and how they were treated, but also admitted that he was very scared this time.

“Hello everyone. I'm better, I'm out of the hospital and I'm almost fine. As you can see, my jaw took quite a blow, I broke it in several parts, as well as my collarbone and shoulder blade. Unfortunately I also severed a nerve in my jaw, so for the next few times I'll be laughing with my mouth a little crooked. But I'm so happy to be here, first of all because I'm alive and at first, when I was falling, I didn't think I could do it. tell,” Petrucci explained in the video.

“I am very grateful to the doctors at the Torrette Hospital in Ancona where I have been in recent days. Doctor De Feudis who urgently operated on my jaw, placing plates and screws: he did a masterpiece because I was in really bad shape. Dr. Balercia, who is responsible for the maxillofacial, and Dr. Pascarella who operated on my clavicle yesterday morning and fixed another plate. In addition to the two plates and the 20 screws on my hand, I added three more plates and a few screws, but I'm happy to be back home”, he added.

This weekend, obviously, Danilo will not be able to be part of the match in Assen and Nicholas Spinelli will make his debut in the Superbike World Championship on his Ducati. However, since there is a gap of almost two months before the next round in Misano, he assured that he will do everything possible to try to be there even if he is quite battered at the moment.

“Now I'll have it for a while, but I think we'll see each other at Misano. I think I'll make it. Now I can't eat, so maybe for the first time in my life I'll lose weight, because I can only eat liquids. It will be tough, but how I said I'm very happy to be here talking to you. I thank everyone who wrote to me. Thank you again.”
