Toprak Razgatlioglu’s fast is over: the reigning world champion was missing from the top step of the podium since last year’s Argentina round and at Misano he returned to the top. In the Superpole Race, the Yamaha rider imposed himself from the start, going to take the first position so as not to leave it until the checkered flag. The Turkish left his two world championship rivals to fight for the remaining podium positions, with Alvaro Bautista still increasing his lead over Jonathan Rea, having finished the sprint race in second position, ahead of the Kawasaki rider.
The two contenders in the world championship immediately swapped positions allowing Razgatlioglu to run away and accumulate an advantage of two seconds at the finish. It was the Aruba rider who got the better of the duel and managed to get a good margin on Rea too. The Kawasaki rider was satisfied with the last step of the podium, trying to contain an arrembante Xavi Vierge. Excellent race for the Honda rider, who arrived close to the number 65 ZX-10RR and tried to overtake the Northern Irishman, even if in vain.
Vierge, fourth, precedes his teammate Iker Lecuona, who in the final was the protagonist of great overtaking to recover positions. The Spaniard is fifth ahead of Andrea Locatelli, first of the Italian drivers. The Yamaha rider from Bergamo was fighting for fourth position with Vierge, only to have to settle for sixth place finish.
Difficult Sunday morning for Michael Ruben Rinaldi, who in the early stages of the Superpole Race was fighting for fourth place but then retreated to cross the finish line in tenth position. The Aruba rider also remains behind Axel Bassani’s independent Ducati, seventh. Complicated race also for Alex Lowes, eighth. Garrett Gerloff is ninth and leads the only R1 of the GRT team to the finish, with Kohta Nozane ending up on the ground.
The last day of racing does not start on the right foot even for Alessandro Delbianco, who started from the pitlane but was forced to stop. Out also Philipp Oettl, who brings the Goeleven team Ducati back to the garage due to the pain in his injured shoulder. So the Italians: Roberto Tamburini is 17th and precedes Gabriele Ruiu, 18th.
