France has always represented one of the “hottest” rounds of the Superbike World Championship, with great fans filling the stands. World titles have often been decided and celebrated at Magny-Cours and the show will continue for several years to come. Dorna WorldSBK and the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours have in fact announced the renewal of the agreement, which now binds them until 2027.
Located in the picturesque department of Nievre, the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours is considered a favorite among spectators, but also among drivers due to its challenging layout. The French round is usually held in September, which is why the weather uncertainty is always present and this makes the entire weekend even more spectacular.
The local administration has been committed for a long time to supporting the Superbike World Championship in the Nievre area, which has hosted series derivatives for years, also a reason to promote the socio-economic development of the region. For this reason, a new race control room debuted in 2023 for the last round held. The modernization of the infrastructure, with new monitoring facilities, was made possible thanks to a joint effort between the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours and the Nievre Departmental Council, a fundamental investment to maintain the circuit’s Grade B approval .
“We are thrilled to continue our collaboration with the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours,” said Gregorio Lavilla, WorldSBK Executive Director. “The circuit has always offered great racing moments, showing the passion of the French fans. This extension reflects our shared commitment to providing the best possible experience for both drivers and spectators. We look forward to the next few years of competition in this world-class facility.”
Serge Saulnier, President of the Board of Directors of the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours, said: “Extending our agreement is the result of the close collaboration between Dorna and the Circuit de Magny-Cours. 2024 will mark the 22nd year that the venue has hosted the French round of the World Superbike Championship, reflecting the enduring relationship between this championship and Magny-Cours. Our teams, supported by the La Nievre department, are constantly working to improve our infrastructure and ensure the safety of our competitors. We look forward to welcoming WorldSBK fans to Magny-Cours on 6, 7 and 8 September.”
