At the dawn of the fourth round of the Superbike season, the 2025 starting grid begins to take shape. One of the first to announce his future is Alex Lowes, who renews his trust with Kawasaki. The brand, which from next year will race with Bimota which returns to the world championship as Bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team, has decided to focus on continuity with the British.
Lowes, who joined Kawasaki in 2020, triumphed on his debut on the ZX-10RR in Australia, also taking the lead in the World Championship (then interrupted due to the pandemic). Four years then passed before the Briton returned to the top step of the podium. In a not particularly rosy period for Kawasaki, Lowes broke his fast by returning to victory this year, again at Phillip Island, where he won the Superpole Race and Race 2.
“I believe this opportunity has come at the right time. Together with Bimota, Kawasaki is putting a lot of effort into this new project. By using racing knowledge, the success of almost 40 years of Superbikes and my personal experience with different manufacturers, I believe we can have a good opportunity to start in the best possible way with the new bike. I showed that I can still improve and be fast and competitive in Superbike. I thank KMC, Bimota and Provec Racing for the trust they have placed in me. I’m happy to continue being part of the racing family! I enjoy racing and we still have a lot to focus on during 2024. We had a good start to the season with a couple of wins, but now our focus is on Misano. It’s a track that I really like, we’ve done some testing recently and I feel strong on the bike. Let’s concentrate and see what result we can achieve this weekend.”

Guim Roda, KRT team manager, is enthusiastic about the renewal of Lowes, with whom he aims to continue the development work to return to the top also with Bimota: “With Alex we are on a great journey. We started in the time of Covid in a difficult season for him to get into a rhythm. In 2021 and 2022 he suffered due to various injuries that did not allow him to show his true potential. But in those years he still showed his speed and other qualities. Now it’s time to take consistency to a new level. Lately the limitations of the regulations have not allowed us to exploit the full potential of our ZX-10RR, but this season we have had the opportunity to improve some areas of the bike and this has certainly helped Alex.”
“He has a great mentality and has become a good ambassador for Kawasaki. We want to continue to keep our structure solid next season, and we have challenges to achieve with the Bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team project, so we need all our best tools to get it right. We are therefore very happy that Alex decided to continue working with us despite the other offers he had. We can certainly now move forward focused on finishing the 2024 season and starting to make history in 2025,” concludes Roda.
This is echoed by Shigemi Tanaka, General Manager, Marketing & Sales Division, Kawasaki Motors, Ltd: “On behalf of Kawasaki and Bimota, we are pleased to secure the presence of Alex Lowes for Bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team. His experience and skill in racing are a significant advantage, plus the fact that he has a positive and personal history with many of the staff members he will work with in this exciting new racing project. Now Alex can focus on further success in the remainder of 2024 without distractions, while preparations for the new team continue.”
