The time has come to make the engines roar again, despite the fact that due to the pandemic the world championship now starts in April and no longer at the end of February, Superbike does not stop and takes advantage of the longest winter for the usual tests. On the days of February 26 and 27 it is Kawasaki’s turn, who flies to Jerez de la Frontera for two days of testing with the two starting riders.
Jonathan Rea and Alex Lowes are back on their ZX-10RRs for the first time since the last tests, which took place in Jerez in December. The two Kawasaki riders set off from the Andalusian track resuming the work done a month and a half ago, in which they had started to baste 2022. In the two days of testing tomorrow and Thursday, the team will continue on the line undertaken in order to reach the first round of the season, in Aragon, ready to claim the world title.
Jonathan Rea will be back on track to prepare and be able to start 2022 by battling reigning champion Toprak Razgatlioglu. The six-time world champion is already projected towards the tests scheduled for tomorrow and Thursday and is already very concentrated: “We have two days of tests planned in Jerez, based on the weather, the agenda and how we are doing, we can choose to use one. and save another to exploit it later in the year. At the end of last year we had a very productive test in Jerez, so it’s always good to come back and make comparisons ”.
“The guys in KRT and KMC had the opportunity to look at all the data and try to improve. We will understand the results in a few days. I’ve been home and recharged my batteries, haven’t traveled at all since my last test, so from a preparation standpoint it was really productive. I feel regenerated and now I can’t wait to get back on track and see the guys ”.
With the injury behind him, Alex Lowes is ready to get back on his ZX-10RR and work towards his third season with Kawasaki. The Brit will work on what was left unfinished in the last part of the season due to the injury: “I am thrilled to be back to work for 2022. I have rested during the holidays and enjoyed some time with my new family. . Now I feel regenerated and ready to return with my ‘Team 22’. I’m interested in trying out some of the things my team boss Marcel and the guys have been working on since the last test and start building the new season ”.
