The Superbike World Championship is back in action at Imola for the first time since 2019 and it does so just a few months after the tragedy that struck Emilia-Romagna. The support initiatives for the region continue and, after having already implemented discounts for residents on weekend tickets, the “WorldSBK loves Imola” has started. It is a charity auction with memorabilia of the pilots organized by the promoters of the world championship.
The auction, hosted on charitystars. com, started today and will be active until Saturday 15 July, when Race 1 of the Imola Superbike Round will start. Those who want to participate will be able to find fairings, overalls, helmets and many other accessories used and signed by the main protagonists of the Superbike world championship. “WorldSBK loves Imola” is the latest, in chronological order, of the initiatives implemented in the Motor Valley to support the populations of Emilia-Romagna.
The proceeds of the auction will go to the fund set up by the Regional Civil Protection Agency of Emilia-Romagna. “By participating in this auction, fans have a unique opportunity to support ongoing recovery efforts and make a difference in the lives of those affected by the floods in Emilia-Romagna,” reads the statement issued by WorldSBK.com .
Among the memorabilia that can be awarded, the hulls of Axel Bassani, Danilo Petrucci. Also up for auction are Lorenzo Baldassarri’s overalls, Bradley Ray’s boots and gloves worn by Xavi Vierge and Remy Gardner. The most valuable pieces are probably Toprak Razgatlioglu’s autographed helmet and the gloves worn by Alvaro Bautista at the Donington round staged last weekend, as well as Jonathan Rea’s soap bars, fresh from this year’s Misano round.
