The Superbike World Championship has entered the heart of the fight for the world championship and everything has suddenly changed with the absence of Toprak Razgatlioglu. The challenge is renewed this weekend in Aragon, where the tenth round of the season will take place. There, the Turk is still leading, but his presence on the track is not yet certain due to his recovery from the injury suffered at Magny-Cours.
Absent in Cremona, the BMW rider saw several championship points recovered by Nicolò Bulega, who now arrives at MotorLand just 13 points from the top. The Aruba.it Racing – Ducati rider has in his hands the great opportunity to become leader and favorite in the world championship if Razgatlioglu were to also miss the Spanish event.
In the home round held last weekend, however, Danilo Petrucci shone, not only taking his first Superbike win in Race 1, but also repeating his feat by scoring a splendid hat-trick. The Barni rider deprived Bulega of the victories, but Alvaro Bautista also entered the fight, determined to defend the title despite being further away in the championship.
The Spaniard competed in the Cremona round despite a rib injury that prevented him from being 100%, but he still managed to get closer in the standings, arriving at his home race with a gap of 82 points from the top. His fans will be an extra push to be able to nibble away a few more points and revive his world championship hopes.
The entire Aragon round will be available to watch live on Sky Sport MotoGP HD (channel 208) starting from Friday, while the two long races will be broadcast live and the Superpole Race delayed on free-to-air TV8. The schedule will return to the usual times despite the coincidence with the MotoGP Indonesia Grand Prix, which will instead be brought forward to the Italian morning due to the time difference.
