There is a time for everything and you know, the end of the year brings with it budgets and resolutions for what is to come. So it was also for Ayrton Badovini, who on the last day of 2021 announced that from next season he will hang up his helmet and stop being a driver. The 36-year-old thus concludes his long and rich career, which lasted a good 20 years.
Born in 1986, Badovini made his debut on the world stage in 2006 with the MV Agusta in the Superstock 1000 class. The driver from Biella proved to be competitive right from the start and in the second year, confirmed in the Italian team, he won his first victory in Brno. For MV Agusta this is the first success after 30 years from the last triumph of Giacomo Agostini.
After his experience in the Stock, in 2008 he made his debut in Superbike with the Kawasaki of the Pedercini team, but the following year he was forced to stop after three races due to the global economic crisis that also hit the team and forced to interrupt the season with a large advance. Badovini’s career has also been troubled due to several injuries that have stopped him on many occasions, but without ever giving up on him.
However, 20 years after his debut, Ayrton Badovini has decided to hang up his helmet, saying goodbye to his racing career. It does so with a post published on its social channels, but also reveals that starting from 2022 it will be present in another capacity. He has not yet unbalanced or revealed future plans, but the intention is certainly to remain in the paddock.
Here is the post published by Badovini in which he announces his retirement from racing: “Sooner or later you have to accept the passing of time .. and for me about 20 years have passed; 20 years of career, dedication, commitment, passion, satisfaction, but also sacrifices, pains, injuries (both broken ankles, various ribs, clavicle, subacromeon, various head injuries, small vertebral fracture, sd hand tendon reconstruction , several broken fingers, pleural hematoma of the liver, various abrasions, etc.). But I was lucky enough to be able to keep doing what I love most, I was lucky enough to travel the world and meet fabulous people, I had the opportunity to learn from the best “.
“But now it’s time to start with the second part of my career … it’s time to make all my knowledge and experience available to the new generation. This is not a farewell to racing, but a change of dress. I thank my sponsors who supported me, and all those people who have always been close to me, my true friends, my family and my partner Rita with our little Emanuele. See you on the track. Stay tuned! “.
