Already 12 points scored
There McLaren started 2024 better and was largely predictable as well as desirable for the members of the team led by Andrea Stella. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri finished the inaugural Bahrain GP in sixth and eighth place, still 'disappointing' results considering McLaren's performance at some circuits at the end of 2023.
Now next weekend will see teams and drivers compete in the Saudi Arabian GP which will be very indicative for McLaren to evaluate whether the MCL38 has made progress in terms of aerodynamic efficiency. “We have started the 2024 season well and we hope to continue in this direction at the Saudi Arabian GP – he has declared Lando Norris – after the Bahrain GP we had some things to review that we want to continue working on, but it was undoubtedly positive to start scoring points straight away.”
“I can't wait to return to Jeddah, especially now that we have a much better car than at the 2023 edition of the Saudi Arabian GP. The goal is another double top-10“, echoed Norris's boxing mate Oscar Piastri. The team principal Andrea Stella underlined that it will be interesting to see how the MCL38 will behave on a totally different track to that of Sakhir: “We leave Bahrain with 12 points, an excellent start to the 2024 season. Now the Saudi Arabian GP awaits us, a fast street circuit with very different characteristics compared to the Bahrain track. This is a new challenge and a new opportunity to learn about the MCL38 on a fast and smooth circuit.”
