According to the Saudi Press Agency, “SPA,” Prince Mohammed bin Salman expressed readiness to mediate, upon receiving a phone call from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
During the call, they discussed relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Russia and ways of enhancing them in various fields.
With regard to the crisis in Ukraine, the Saudi crown prince clarified the Kingdom’s stated position and support for efforts that lead to a political solution that leads to its end and achieves security and stability.
With regard to the impact of the Ukraine crisis on energy markets, Prince Mohammed bin Salman reiterated the Kingdom’s keenness to maintain the oil market’s balance and stability, noting the role of the “OPEC Plus” agreement in this and the importance of maintaining it.
On Thursday, Russian negotiators met their Ukrainian counterparts in Belarus, as part of efforts to defuse the crisis that erupted in late February.
Reuters reported, quoting an unnamed Ukrainian negotiator, that the two sides had agreed on a possible ceasefire during the evacuation of civilians.
