Ras Al Khaimah (WAM)
His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, affirmed that charitable initiatives reflect the highest human principles and authentic values rooted in the Ras Al Khaimah society and the UAE and all those who live on its land, and deeply embody the message of the civilized state based on tolerance and brotherhood. This came while His Highness attended yesterday the launch of the Terry Fox charity race dedicated to supporting cancer research, on Al Qawasim Corniche, with the participation of a large number of community members. His Highness praised the noble goals of the race, which enshrines the values of giving and cooperation in the hearts of members of society, and establishes societal awareness of the importance of these voluntary charitable initiatives.
The race is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, in cooperation with the Saqr bin Muhammad Al Qasimi Foundation for Charitable and Humanitarian Works.
The race has been organized in Ras Al Khaimah for years, in memory of the Canadian athlete Terry Fox, who was diagnosed with bone cancer in his prime, and subsequently lost one of his legs, but despite that and before his death he insisted on starting a long marathon trip with one leg across Canada, with the aim of raising funds. To support cancer research.
