A further step towards Audi
The 2024 season is proving to be quite troubled for the Sauber team, which after more than a third of the championship already played has not yet managed to score even one point in the championship. The Swiss team, however, while trying to settle the present, inevitably has to look to the future seen That from 2026 the team will transform into the official Audi team. The major maneuvers for this change of ownership are underway and the last piece, in chronological order, was the appointment of a new Chief Commercial Officer.
The figure identified, as was officially announced by Sauber, is that of Stefano Battiston. Having officially taken office on 1 June this year, Battiston – as reported by Sauber – “will report directly to CEO Andreas Seidl e will guide the commercial strategy when the team becomes the Audi F1 factory team in 2026.”.
Who is Stefano Battiston
“In his new role – continues the note – Battiston will lead all commercial aspects of Sauber Motorsport and the Audi F1 project, including marketing, branding and content, partnerships, commercial development, guest experience and merchandising“.
Battiston brings with him a great experience from his previous roles held at Maserati, IWC Schaffhausen and as marketing manager of the Alfa Romeo F1 team. Most recently, he was Commercial Director of the Audi F1 Project, which saw him build the backbone of Audi F1’s commercial entry into the sport.
Andreas SeidlCEO of Sauber and the Audi F1 factory team said: “Stefano’s appointment is another important step in our transition to becoming the Audi F1 factory team from 2026, and represents a solid foundation on which we will continue to build as we prepare for our entry into Formula 1 with Audi, ensuring we are commercially ahead of our competitors. I have been working with Stefano since I joined the Sauber Group: together we have ambitious goals and welcoming Stefano into this program brings us one step closer to achieving them. There is a challenge on the track and one off the track: we want to win both“.
