Market always on the move
The pilots market continues to hold sway in 2024. Parallel to the challenge on the track, many teams are competing outside the circuits with offers and negotiations to try to winopose the best possible line-up for next year, without obviously forgetting to also think ahead to 2026, when the new regulation on power units will be introduced. Particularly active is – obviously – the Sauberwhich has both its drivers – Bottas and Zhou – expiring and must try to compose a driver line-up that can be also appreciated by Audi in view of the actual entry of the house of the Rings into the field in two seasons.
The Fate of the Hulk
The first name on the table, it is now known, is that of Carlos Sainz. Alongside the Spaniard, however, the ambition would be to field another even more experienced driver: iGerman Nico Hulkenberg. This possible change of jersey for the native of Emmerich was also discussed at length during the weekend of the Chinese GP, which saw the #27 once again be a great protagonist, with a nice tenth place finish which earned him another championship point in the championship.
No news (for now)
“At this point I would definitely recommend it over Audi – said to Sky Deutschland the 2016 world champion Nico Rosberg'sponsoring' his compatriot – he is a very good candidate for a seat. He has a lot of experience and would be a really good choice“. Rosberg then also joked with his former colleague, teasing him about the fact that “has already signed” and that the contract with Audi “is already on your table”. The journalist Peter Hardenacke, however, then clarified how the former Racing Point and Renault representative, at the moment, has not yet let out any clues about the future: “Nico [Hulkenberg] he confirmed to us again that there is nothing to report“, he concluded.
