In his speech before the opening session of the Parliamentary Dialogue Forum with the Senates of Latin America and the Caribbean currently being held in the Moroccan capital Rabat, His Excellency Saqr Ghobash affirmed that holding this Parliamentary Dialogue Forum represents a real opportunity for all of us to discuss and consult on various issues that the countries of the Arab world and Latin American countries are going through. in particular, and those experienced by the whole world in general.
His Excellency pointed out that one of the historical facts that we both realize, and feel proud of, is that the countries of the Arab world and the countries of Latin America, despite the geographical distance between them, belong to the oldest civilizations known to mankind, which was manifested in the great cultural, literary and artistic contributions that enriched the World Library and human heritage. and human thought over many centuries.
His Excellency stressed that it is also an established fact that both regions are rich in very large human and natural resources that can be invested in to achieve the sustainable development that we all aspire to. The population of Latin American countries is more than 630 million people, most of whom are also young. In the field of human resources, both regions are characterized by vitality and dynamism, with very large global reserves of energy, precious metals and capital as well.
His Excellency said: From this standpoint, although relations between the Arab world and Latin American countries have witnessed many positive developments in recent years, these relations have not yet reached the level we aspire to in the various fields in which we can coordinate and cooperate, especially the economy. , culture, science, technology, tourism, and other related fields.
His Excellency pointed out that based on the foregoing, and in light of global developments and changes related to energy, climate change, food security and cyber security, which threaten the future of future generations without exception, and in light of political and security developments as well that can affect international peace and security, or trade And international navigation, whether it is related to wars that may arise here or there, or the expansion of the phenomenon of terrorism and extremism across borders, we feel that there is a great necessity to create more opportunities for coordination and cooperation between the countries of the Arab world and the countries of Latin America in various fields that serve the interests of our countries and peoples. Among the most important are the areas of infrastructure, renewable energy, technology and space sciences.
His Excellency Saqr Ghobash pointed out that the experience of Latin American countries in recent decades in the face of rapid social, economic and political changes can be a strong basis for dialogue and cooperation with the Arab world, which is witnessing significant transformation and progress in these areas. Latin America, with its 34 member states of the United Nations, can greatly influence many issues experienced by our Arab region.
His Excellency stressed the necessity of coordinating parliamentary visions and positions in various international and regional forums in the interest of common issues about which we share an opinion.. His Excellency said: I will not fail to stress here that developing exchange and cooperation between Latin America and the Arab world in the field of education, culture and the arts will encourage understanding The best for the civilization, languages and history of each region, and this is evident today, for example, in the “Expo 2020 Dubai” exhibition, which today represents the largest global platform that includes more than 190 countries.
