His Excellency Saqr Ghobash, President of the Federal National Council, met with UAE students on scholarships and students in a number of universities in the United Kingdom, as part of the Council’s keenness to communicate with citizens inside and outside the country, in a way that enhances community participation and embodies the role of the Council as a representative of the people of the Union.
The meeting came within the framework of His Excellency’s current official visit to the United Kingdom at the head of a parliamentary delegation, during which His Excellency the Speaker of the British House of Commons and a number of officials and chairmen of committees and the British-Emirati Parliamentary Friendship Committee met.
His Excellency and the members of the Federal National Council expressed their happiness to meet the students on scholarships and students in the United Kingdom and urged them to excel and excel in science, in order to return to the homeland with the most modern skills and knowledge that would enable them to play a major role in the process of development and prosperity of the UAE in all fields. The meeting was attended by a delegation of the Federal National Council, whose membership includes His Excellency Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Dr. Tariq Humaid Al Tayer, Sarah Muhammad Falaknaz and Marwan Al Muhairi, members of the Federal National Council, and Dr. Omar Abdul Rahman Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Council. At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency Saqr Ghobash conveyed the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State “may God protect him”, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the State and Ruler of Dubai “may God protect him”, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses, members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates, to our student children in the United Kingdom to continue their university and academic education, and the wishes of their Highness that God grant them success and return to the country armed with knowledge to contribute to the comprehensive and balanced development process that witnessed by the state.

His Excellency Saqr Ghobash said: “We in the UAE are proud to be Zayed’s children. But that also holds us responsible. This name deserves to be preserved and to be a role model and example, and I am sure that you are as well. You are the country’s ambassadors abroad, and you must strive and persevere in your educational journey and achieve academic excellence and distinction. We must adhere to the values of the builder of our renaissance and the founder of the state, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God rest his soul”, have morals, adhere to the benign qualities we inherited from our fathers and grandfathers, and preserve the good reputation and respect that the UAE enjoys among the countries of the world.
His Excellency gave an overview of the role of the Federal National Council as a representative of the people of the Emirates and that it transmits the pulse of the people of the Emirates to the government through the main means of legislation, oversight and parliamentary diplomacy, stressing that the course of parliamentary life witnessed during the era of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State «may God protect him». Important stations that contributed to enabling the Federal National Council to exercise its constitutional powers in discussing various issues related to the homeland and citizens, and to strengthening the Shura approach and the participation of citizens in decision-making, in implementation of the empowerment program announced by His Highness in 2005, which aims to empower the sons and daughters of the Emirates in various fields. Work sites to contribute to the process of balanced comprehensive development, a translation of His Highness’s vision, which considers the human being as the goal and purpose of development and that at the same time it is its tool and means.
