Santos Brasil Participações recorded net income of BRL 60.4 million in the second quarter of 2021, reversing a loss of BRL 9.4 million in the same period in 2020. Ebitda (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) added up R$ 147.7 million between April and June, an increase of 250% compared to the same period last year.
Santos Brasil’s net operating revenue in the quarter reached R$379.5 million, an increase of 68.8% compared to the same period in 2020, driven by the sharp growth in the volume of container handling in port terminals with greater demand for restock industry and retail supply chains.
The company ended the quarter with net cash of R$ 688.2 million, with a leverage ratio 1.7 times lower than the ratio between net debt and Ebitda.
According to the balance, among the main catalysts, the replenishment of stocks in the industry reflects the acceleration of consumption. During the second quarter, the terminal operated 23 extra stopovers, either due to the increase in demand or due to the operational restriction observed in competing terminals.
The pace of exports also remained heated, with growth of 30.1% compared to the first quarter. The movement of empty containers increased by 4.8% year on year.
