lThe Arbitration Commission this Thursday named the group of judges that will be in charge of directing the grand final of the BetPlay League 2024-I between Independiente Santa Fe and Atlético Bucaramanga, which will be played this Saturday at 7:30 at night, at the El Campín stadium, in Bogotá.
According to the criteria of
Carlos Betancur, judge of the Valle del Cauca college, will be the central referee of the match. Javier Leonardo Patiño, from Meta, and Mario Tarache, from Casanare, will be on the lines, and the fourth judge will be Bismarks Santiago, from Atlántico.
The main VAR judge will be María Victoria Daza, from Norte Santander, and the AVAR will be Mauricio Pérez from Antioquia.
Carlos Betancur’s sixth final in the League
Betancur will direct the sixth League final of his career and it will be the third time he whistles the second leg. He had already done it in Medellín vs. Junior (2018-II), Pasto vs. Junior (2019-I) and Millionaires vs. National (2023-I).
He was also the central judge in two first matches: Tolima vs. Millionaires (2021-I) and Medellín vs. Pereira (2022-II). To that we must add four Cup finals, among them, the controversial Nacional vs. Millionaires of last year.
It will be the 16th game as central referee this semester. He awarded 9 penalties and showed 62 yellow cards and seven red cards.
Background with Santa Fe and Bucaramanga
Betancur directed three games against Atlético Bucaramanga in this tournament, all at home. They won all three: 1-0 against Pasto and Águilas Doradas and 3-1 against Pereira, the latter, in the game that the team from Rafael Dudamel secured his qualification for the final.
On the other hand, Santa Fe only had two games, and both as visitors: in the round-robin, in the 1-0 defeat against Jaguares, and in home runs, in the goalless draw against Once Caldas.
