Santa Fe is slowing down at home. For the second game in a row, the team suffered from a lack of forcefulness, with two teams playing very differently. He could not beat the proactive Deportivo Pereira nor, this Sunday, with an Águilas Doradas that got behind him and took a goalless draw from El Campín, which, however, was not enough to get into the top eight of the League.
According to the criteria of
Coach Pablo Peirano, knowing that Santa Fe is now going to have to play every three or four days due to the large number of postponed games, ended up shuffling the roster and saved several starters: Hugo Rodallega, Harold Santiago Mosquera, Jhojan Torres and Elvis Perlaza sang the national anthem on the bench.
After ten overwhelming minutes, in which the team had two very clear ones, a shot by Agustín Rodríguez and a header by Juan Pablo Zuluaga, both controlled by goalkeeper José Contreras, Santa Fe was losing clarity and Águilas, who was enthusiastic at the beginning , began to retreat until it formed a block that was difficult to break.
Peirano only moved the team, in the intermission, from the middle to the back, with the departure of a very nervous Diego Hernández, whom he replaced with Iván Scarpeta. But then he had to dip into his savings and, in two rounds, the starters came on: at 11, Rodallega, Perlaza and Torres were already on the court, instead of Rodríguez, Jordy Monroy and Yilmar Velásquez, and nine minutes later Mosquera, the red scorer in the semester, entered for Zuluaga.
The problem for Santa Fe was that Águilas gained confidence and liked the defensive game, in which Jeison Quiñónez was key to erasing any sign of danger in and around their area.
Shots on goal were scarce in the second stage. On the Santa Fe side, just one. From Águilas, the notebook is still empty. The 11,211 red fans who arrived yesterday at El Campín were beginning to despair due to the attitude of the visitor and the lack of judgment of the local team, which demanded very little from Contreras.
Santa Fe once again lost the opportunity to get closer to the lead of the championship. It still has two games postponed, but is now four behind the new leader, América de Cali, which also has two games left on its schedule. On Thursday, the same day that the National Team plays in Bolivia, the red fans will also have to show strength, against Chicó.
