After the fourth meeting of the crisis committee, almost five days after the tragedy, Pedro Sanchez has appeared to announce that the State will redouble its aid to the Valencian Community to try to alleviate the emergency situation that that region is going through. The president, who has recognized that already there are at least 211 deadhas indicated that the Army will deploy 5,000 more soldiers, who will join those already on the ground and will also send another 5,000 police and civil guards to try to restore security in the area.
«The magnitude of this catastrophe makes these numbers insufficient. We know that help is taking a long time to arrive and that there are many helpless people, which is why I am pleased that President Mazón has decided to increase the request for military personnel from 500 to 5,000 and I announce that the Government of Spain will immediately proceed with that shipment,” he said. Sánchez, who urged the president of the Valencian Community to “ask for more help, if they need it.”

After his intervention, Sánchez headed to the Headquarters of the Military Emergency Unit (UME) together with the Minister of Defense, where she will hold a working meeting with her managers, at the Torrejón Air Base.
