Mourning in the world of cinema: the director Salvatore Piscicelli, considered Sorrentino’s master, was 76 years old
He passed away yesterday in Rome, at the age of 76, Salvatore Piscicellithe Italian director and film critic considered the father of the new Neapolitan film school. With his death, which occurred on July 21, the world of cinema loses a giant, a figure who has been able to profoundly influence the art of cinema. Piscicelli, celebrated for his extraordinary contribution to Italian cinema, was a point of reference and a master for directors of the caliber of Paolo Sorrento and Mario Marton. His career began with Immaculate and Concetta in 1979. With Ida Di Benedetto as the protagonist, it marked the beginning of a journey full of successes and recognitions. Only two years later, with Rosa’s OpportunitiesPiscicelli entered the competition at the Venice Film Festival, where Marina Suma won the prestigious David by Donatello.
