The growth in sales of salutes and fireworks in early December compared to the same period last year was recorded by analysts of the Index Check resource, which studies data from more than 1.1 million online cash desks in the country.
According to the Check Index, sales of salutes and fireworks increased by 26% in early December compared to the same period last year. At the same time, the average check in early December amounted to 1,205 rubles, which is 30% higher than last year.
Sales for 11 months of 2022 are also 26% higher than last year, but the average check is 10% lower than last year and amounted to 865 rubles. This is due to the fact that Russians choose cheaper pyrotechnics, experts noted.
Firecrackers in packages in December of this year began to buy more: sales increased by 20%. At the same time, the average check of 335 rubles is 10% lower than a year earlier. Sales volume for the 11 months of this year increased by 19% when compared with the data of 2021.
Experts noted that in late November and early December, salutes and fireworks for 10-20 volleys and firecrackers in boxes of 40-60 pieces were the most popular.
“In connection with the lifting of coronavirus restrictions in cafes and restaurants this year, Russians had more opportunities to use holiday paraphernalia, which supported the fireworks market. However, in general, the buyer chose more budgetary, modest options for fireworks and fireworks, which was reflected in the size of the average purchase receipt,” Chek Index reported.
More active spending on such goods, according to them, has been observed since November, when a steady snow cover appeared and low temperatures settled.
Marketplaces also noticed an increase in sales of New Year’s pyrotechnics. So, from November 21 to December 4, 2022, sales of sparklers at Wildberries grew by 55% year-on-year, and firecrackers – by 94%.
