A smooth Friday ended in the first two places of the standings, resulting fast and constant even on the race pace. In home Ferrari so far the free practice of the Dutch Grand Prix has given the response expected from the F1-75 of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, separated by just 4 thousandths in the qualifying simulation. The scrum package is obviously compact on such a short track, but the Maranello cars seem to have a clear advantage, especially in the second sector, the most aerodynamic one.
As for the evidence on the long run Carlos Sainz started with the soft tire and then mounted the yellow band, while Charles Leclerc started with the medium and then mounted the reds with which in 1’15 “9 he also signed the fastest lap in the simulation on the race pace after that faster in the qualification simulation. The deterioration of the tires, then, appeared to be contained.
Now Ferrari is called to confirm tomorrow in Qualifying and then especially in the Race on Sunday. In Budapest and Spa the Reds weren’t as effective on Sunday and George Russell and Max Verstappen were the fastest in Q3 over the past two Saturdays. F1-75, however, is the big favorite in the Netherlands due to the characteristics of the circuit and therefore with the weather that has removed the threat of rain, the prospects for returning to dominate in Qualifying are all there for the men led by Mattia Binotto.
Carlos Sainz said he had a lot of fun today in Zandvoort: “Overall this was a good Friday in Zandvoort and I had a lot of fun running on this track which is so demanding for drivers and cars. From a performance point of view, the sessions went according to plan without a hitch both when we were running in preparation for qualifying and in view of the race. Tomorrow will be a very close fight with our rivals so every area of improvement that we will identify in tonight’s analysis will be extremely useful when we go on the hunt for pole position ”.
