Sainz-Williams, mutual attraction
There Williams could soon send a Spanish driver to the track after the three grand prix contested by Marc Gené between 2003 and 2004. It is naturally Carlos Sainz the object of team principal James’ desire Vowleswho in front and behind the cameras is courting the Ferrari driver to have one of the most interesting couples on the grid.
Sainz still needs to be convinced, because he hopes that Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff (who has closed the doors to him for 2025) will change his mind and that that earthquake with Max Verstappen will occur in Red Bull which in truth seemed much more likely at the start of the World Championship. On the other hand, Sainz can afford to wait any longer. And, indeed, it suits him: at the moment there are unattractive options available in terms of 2025, we might as well hope for some jolts so as not to have to go to purgatory next season.
Sainz’s words
The #55 is attracted to the Williams court, naturally more for the team’s history and Vowles’ growth plans than for current competitiveness: “I obviously appreciate James’ interest and the kind words he always had towards me. The same can be said about how I feel about him and his team“.
“The reality is that I haven’t decided where to go next year yet. Right now, my mind is too focused on each race weekend. Every weekend I’m fighting for the podium or the victory. So it’s very difficult to think about the future when there are such important weekends coming up“, he continued. “I will need some time to sit down with my management, with myself, have a conversation with myself and then decide where I want to go. But at the moment nothing is decided“.
