Gazprom announced that it was unable to confirm the quantities of gas required for today, noting that it could not supply gas through Austria.
Eni, the largest Italian oil company, said on Saturday that Russian gas supplies to it today through the Tarvisio entry point will be zero.
An Eni spokesperson said the company was working with Gazprom to check if it was possible to reactivate flows to Italy.
The Russian gas cut to Italy comes days after underwater explosions paralyzed the main Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline connecting Russia to Europe.
For its part, “Gazprom” said that the transportation of gas through Austria has been suspended after the Austrian gas network operator refused to confirm the gas transmission nominations.
In a statement posted on Telegram, Gazprom blamed the problem on regulatory changes in Austria, and said it was working jointly with Italian customers to solve the problem.
