Apartment buildings with built-in private gardens for residents will be built in Russia, said RIA News leading expert of the FoodNet working group of the National Technology Initiative (NTI) Mikhail Charny.
The first building with personal gardens for citizens will begin to be erected in Samara in 2024, he said. The project is being implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture. According to Charny, one of the largest domestic construction companies is ready to introduce developments in city farming into its project.
The design of a house in Samara will begin in 2022. “In the future, this project can be replicated for other regions,” the expert explained. He noted that there are several schemes for the introduction of urban gardens. The first involves the placement of city farms in the basements of the building. Another option is a vertical city farm that runs through all the apartments inside the house. In fact, each resident will be offered a wardrobe with a personal vegetable garden. Another option is to equip the corresponding built-in rooms on the technical floors.
City farms can only be created in new buildings, stressed Charny, – in old buildings, their equipment will require too expensive expertise.
Earlier it became known that the Russian Central Bank and the government are jointly working on the possibility of launching a green mortgage in Russia – loans for the purchase of apartments and houses that meet the criteria for environmentally friendly housing.
