Experts predicted a rise in housing prices for Russians in 2021. On average, they can grow by more than four percent, MK reports.
As the director of the People’s Control Organization Natalya Chernysheva explained, tariffs are usually increased by about four to six percent. However, next year, resource companies may seek a higher percentage increase to cover losses from 2020. The prices will also be affected by the termination of the moratorium on fines and shutdown of utility services for non-payment. “A large number of Russian families will find themselves in a very difficult situation due to debts,” she suggested.
According to the estimates of Sergei Minko, General Director of PJSC City Innovative Technologies, in the Russian regions the increase will be from 3.4 to 6.4 percent. He recalled that according to the law, the growth of tariffs cannot exceed the inflation rate. According to the Ministry of Economic Development, it will be at the level of four to five percent.
In June, experts calculated that Russians began to pay less for utility bills. On an annualized basis, spending fell by about 13 percent, while heating alone fell 33 percent.
