Russian tourists massively rushed to vacation in expensive accommodation abroad – from January to the second half of July 2021, the demand for vacations of this category has grown significantly. Writes about it Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) citing research by “Russian Express”.
Thus, the number of tours to Cyprus sold by the Russian Express company in five-star hotels in 2019 was 27 percent, in 2021 this figure increased to 50 percent of the total number of tours.
In Croatia, five-star hotel bookings accounted for 52 percent in 2019, up to 59 percent in 2021. The share of sales of such vouchers also increased to Greece, where in 2019 38 percent of tourists were sent to hotels of the elite segment, in 2021 – already 52 percent.
Analysts also noted that a similar situation is observed in Turkey, the UAE and a number of other countries.
According to experts, the main reasons for this trend are an increase in the cost of tours due to a significant reduction in charter programs in connection with the coronavirus pandemic, additional costs for PCR tests, as well as a fall in the ruble exchange rate.
“A tour for two thousand dollars, which used to cost tourists 120 thousand rubles, now costs 150 thousand rubles. As a result, those for whom the rise in the ruble value by 20-30 percent is insignificant, continue to fly abroad, “explained Taras Kobishchanov, General Director of Russian Express.
Earlier in June, Igor Blinov, director of development for the network of travel agencies OnlineTur.ru, said that after the announcement of the resumption of air communication with Turkey, vouchers to this direction have risen sharply almost twice. According to the specialist, the average price of a tour with a flight and accommodation for two for seven nights in a budget five-star and with an all-inclusive system has increased from 50 thousand to 60 thousand rubles.
