Negotiations between Russia and Ukraine to seek an end to hostilities in the Russian offensive will continue this Monday (14) in a videoconference format, the Kremlin said on Sunday.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed to reporters that delegations from the two countries will meet virtually tomorrow.
Both the Russians and the Ukrainians have shown in recent days that the mood of the negotiations has improved a little.
“By comparing the positions of the Russian and Ukrainian sides at the beginning of the negotiations and today, we can speak of significant progress,” said Leonid Slutsky, head of the Russian Parliament’s International Affairs Committee and member of the Moscow delegation for peace talks. according to Russian news agencies.
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky himself said yesterday that “there are some positive signs” currently from Russia in the negotiations that are taking place.
“Now the Russian side, in the negotiations, has started talking about things and not just giving ultimatums. I think this is a fundamentally different approach. And it should be that way,” the Ukrainian president said.
For Zelensky, any solution must start with a ceasefire. “This will allow to unblock humanitarian processes, evacuate people, as well as deliver food and water,” he said.
Today, Mihailo Podolyak, Zelensky’s adviser, said that the next bilateral round will take place when the “legal formats” accepted by the two parties are defined.
Russia and Ukraine have held three rounds of face-to-face negotiations with delegations from both countries on the Polish-Belarus border since the start of the war on February 24.
