The opinion about the possibility of transmission of the mild course of COVID-19 from person to person is incorrect. This myth was dispelled by virologist Evgeny Timakov, his words leads KP.RU.
The Russian doctor said that the severity of the patient’s disease depends on many factors. Among them: innate immunity, the received dose of the virus during infection and the genetic predisposition of a person.
“We know that 80 percent of people carry the infection in a mild form, 20 percent in a severe to moderate form, when the disease requires hospitalization. This means that, in theory, about one in five has a chance to die, ”Timakov said. Do not think that “if the person from whom I contracted a mild COVID-19, then everything will be fine with me,” the virologist emphasized.
He also expressed the opinion that many Russians do not go to vaccinate, based on the consideration that natural immunity is better than artificial. According to Timakov, if a person is ill and vaccinated, then his immunity will be stable: he will be able to protect against a serious illness and reduce the risk of death, the specialist concluded.
Earlier, epidemiologist Eduard Shunkov and allergist-immunologist Vladimir Bolibok said that people at different times of the year have unequal chances to easily and difficultly endure the course of coronavirus infection due to different phases of the immune system.
