The Russian stock market closed with the growth of the main stock indexes on Tuesday, October 19. The Moscow Exchange Index following the results of the main trading session at Moscow Exchange increased by 0.63 percent, to 4275.06 points. The RTS index, which set a 10-year record during trading, closed at 1899.43 points (plus 1.22 percent).
Among the blue-chip companies, the shares of Polyus (plus 3.02 percent, to 13,860 rubles per share), Sberbank (plus 2 percent, to 371.89 rubles) and Norilsk Nickel (plus 1, 82 percent, up to 1,345.4 rubles). Stronger than others fell in price securities of Novatek, Yandex and MTS, but their losses did not exceed a percent.
The ruble continued to strengthen against major currencies. At 18:40 Moscow time, the dollar exchange rate was 70.9 rubles (minus 0.39 rubles), the euro rate was 82.48 rubles (minus 0.29 rubles).
The price of Brent crude oil was $ 84.99 per barrel (plus 0.78 percent), WTI crude – $ 82.55 (plus 1.05 percent). Gas futures for November traded at $ 1,123 per thousand cubic meters.
