Russian athlete Igor Obraztsov won the gold medal in the 60m race at the Christmas starts in Yekaterinburg.
His result was the best in the world this season. The 25-year-old athlete covered the distance in 6.57 seconds, breaking the record of German Kevin Krantz (6.59).
Obraztsov is the reigning champion of Russia in the 100-meter race. Last year, he won this distance in the Russian Cup.
Two years ago, the athlete was disqualified for an anti-doping rule violation. The term of his suspension expired in April last year.
In December, the International Association of Athletics Federations postponed the World Indoor Athletics Championships to 2023. The competition will be held in Nanjing, China.
The first postponement of the tournament took place in January, with a new date for March 2021.
