It should be noted that, Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, President Iván Duque has rejected the actions of that country.
“Colombia categorically rejects the war and joins all the voices of the international community that today call for a rapid withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukrainian territory. Colombia will actively participate in all appropriate multilateral forums to seek greater coordination that allows for humanitarian responses to this serious situation,” he assured at the time.
On the other hand, a few months ago there were also certain disagreements with the Russian ambassador to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, after he made strong comments related to the implementation of the peace agreement.
“Colombia is not a normal country, we closely follow what is happening in the country and we are concerned because its administration has systematically avoided mentioning the final peace agreement,” Nebenzya told a UN event.
In response to these words, Duque replied: “It is very important that those who today are lacerating a defenseless people do not try to give messages of peace to the world while they are committing these fratricidal acts that we all reject because the sadness that is experienced today in a Ukraine is the sadness of a humanity that cries out for this genocide to end”.
