In Lugansk (Ukraine) a Russian air defense missile exploded against the same place from which it was launched, after unexpectedly deviating from its trajectory after a few seconds in the air.
The incident occurred in the surroundings of the town of Alchevsk, which is approximately 50 kilometers from the city of Severodonetsk, where intense fighting has taken place as part of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Reports indicate that said missile system, which is speculated to be an S300, was manipulated by pro-Russian separatists from the Lugansk People’s Republic.
However, there is no certainty about the cause that led to the deviation of the rocket.
According to Ukrainian media, after the explosion a fire developed at the impact site, which is surrounded by residential areas.
The number of deaths on the Russian and separatist sides of the conflict during this event is not known.
