After being captured by Ukrainian forces, Russian National Guard Lieutenant Colonel Astakhov Dmitry Mikhailovich was shown to the media by the Ukrainian authorities.
In his appearance, he said that Vladimir Putin’s government sent its troops under the guise of helping Ukraine because was “dominated by a fascist regime” and that “the nationalists and the Nazis had taken power.”

During the televised press conference, This soldier, along with other Russian soldiers, lamented the difficult situation in Ukraine and ccondemned the invasion calling it a “genocide”assured the New York Post.
“Obviously, this information was one-sided information,” Mikhailovich told reporters.

“I feel ashamed to have come to this country. I don’t know why we were doing it. We knew very little. We brought sadness to this land, ”she lamented.
The lieutenant colonel asked for the mercy of the Ukrainians and said he was willing to go to jail for participating in the bombings. Mikhailovich said he was speaking freely about the situation.

“I cannot find the words to apologize to the Ukrainian people,” Mikhailovich said, adding that I would understand if Russia was never forgiven.
Mikhailovich urged the Ukrainian forces to let the enemy troops live because many of them are simply ashamed, “they don’t want war.”

“I only sincerely hope for your mercy towards those people who come to you with their hands up, or those who are hurt. We must not sow death, it is better to sow life,” she said.
The lieutenant colonel also urged his troops to “be brave” and oppose the orders of their commanders.

“You are in a tense situation, going against your own commander. But this is genocide,” he said. “Russia cannot win here anyway. Even if we go all the way. We can invade the territory, but we cannot invade the people.”
