The spokesman for the Russian presidency, Dmitry Peskov, spoke on Monday about the visit of President Jair Bolsonaro to the country, which will take place in two days.
“We are looking forward to this visit with impatience,” said the representative of the government led by Vladimir Putin at a press conference.
Peskov explained that, at the meeting between the two presidents next Wednesday, bilateral relations will be addressed”, as there is a “very broad agenda”.
“We will also talk about potential spheres in which the interaction can be deepened and expanded,” said the spokesperson.
According to Peskov, the Russian-Brazilian dialogue will be a “good opportunity to exchange opinions on the most pressing issues on the world agenda, including those we have been talking about for a long time,” he said, referring to the situation in Ukraine.
Putin and Bolsonaro, according to the spokesman, will hold a joint press conference shortly after their meeting.
This Saturday, Bolsonaro confirmed on social media the trip to Moscow, with a delegation of ministers, to address issues such as “energy, defense and agriculture”.
The president, who has heard requests from several analysts and diplomats to suspend the visit because of tensions on the border with Ukraine, reinforced the importance of the trip and asked “that peace reign in the world for the good of all of us”,
Moscow insists it does not want war with the neighboring country and that it does not threaten Ukrainian territory, while the United States has warned Moscow could strike “at any moment”.
