The event occurred on October 19, but has not been reported until this Friday
The German Police have found the lifeless body of a Russian Embassy worker, allegedly linked to the Intelligence services, at the headquarters of the legation in Berlin, the country’s capital.
The discovery would have occurred at the end of October, as reported this Friday by the magazine ‘Der Spiegel’, which has indicated that the man was 35 years old and that it could be related to some intelligence work.
The German Foreign Ministry has confirmed that it is aware of the case, although it has not provided further details on the matter for privacy reasons. The agents, for their part, are considering the possibility that the man fell from an upper floor of the complex.
Diplomatic sources have explained that the man had been accredited as secretary of the Embassy since the summer of 2019. However, for the German authorities he appeared as an undercover member of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia.
The Russian intelligence service was allegedly linked to the murder of the Georgian citizen of Chechen origin Zelimkhan Khangoshvili, who died in 2019 in Berlin’s Tiergarten park after being shot.
