Russian attack The third round of talks between Russia and Ukraine ended with poor results

According to the Russian negotiator, the fourth meeting will be held on a short schedule.

Ukraine and Russia’s third round of talks has ended, several news agencies said Monday night, among others. The country delegations met in the afternoon on the Polish-Belarusian border, and negotiations continued until the evening.

According to the news agency Reuters, a Ukrainian negotiator Mikhail Podoljak said little progress had been made in the negotiations on civilian evacuation logistics. At the same time, however, Podoljak noted that no agreement was reached to significantly improve the wider situation and that negotiations between the parties on a ceasefire are ongoing.

Head of the Russian delegation Vladimir Medinski again, according to AFP, “our expectations of the talks were not met.” According to Reuters, Medinski also said that after the third round, “it is too early to talk about anything positive.” Medinski also said he hopes the parties will take a bigger step forward next time.

President of Russia Vladimir Putin announced during the talks that it demanded the disarmament of Ukraine, the rejection of NATO dreams and official neutrality, the US newspaper said The Washington Post.

Second Russian negotiator Leonid Slutski however, Reuters called for the rejection of the idea that the next round of negotiations would lead to a “final settlement”, according to Reuters. Slutsky also expressed the Russians’ hope for the evacuation of civilians.

“We hope that the next evacuation corridor attempts will be implemented soon,” Slutski said, according to Reuters.

From the evacuation corridors, through which civilians could safely leave the battlefields, was agreed in last week ‘s talks. So far, however, the evacuation corridors have not been successful, with both sides blaming the other for violating the ceasefire.

In addition, Ukraine has previously condemned Russia’s proposals for evacuation corridors, some of which would take civilians to Belarus or Russian territory.

According to Russian negotiator Slutsk, the fourth round of talks will be held in Belarus very soon in the near future. Slutsky told Russian state television about the schedule.
