Pen has made a statement in connection with writers in Ukraine, as well as the administration and the international community.

In the letter it is said that the war launched by Putin is an “attack on democracy and freedom, not just in Ukraine but all over the world” and states that “without a free and independent Ukraine there can be no free and secure Europe”.

On Sunday, the Finnish PEN also published on its website Jouni Inkalan written by poem in support of Ukraine.

Russian cultural figures have also criticized Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The HS said on Friday that a large section of Russia’s cultural population has spoken out loud against the war, even many of those who have otherwise taken a quieter line, such as people working on state channels.
