Russian attack HS poll: Finns almost unanimously condemn Russian warfare, but just over half would have sent arms aid to Ukraine

Finns condemn Russia’s hostilities in Ukraine almost unanimously, according to a survey commissioned by the HS. According to the survey, 96 per cent of Finns consider Russia’s hostilities to be completely reprehensible and two per cent to be partly reprehensible. Less than half a percent of respondents fully accepted Russia’s hostilities.

About five per cent of Finns disagreed with the statement, while about ten per cent could not say their position.

Right there is no one-size-fits-all approach to providing arms. Only 51 per cent answered in the affirmative whether Finland should provide direct arms assistance to the Ukrainian government.

24% disagreed with the statement and 25% disagreed.

Respondents were particularly in favor of the Armed Forces, 64 per cent of whom were in favor of direct arms assistance. More than half of the supporters of other parties were also in favor of sending arms aid, with the exception of the center-left and left-wing allies.

49 per cent of the supporters of the center were in favor of arms aid and 42 per cent of the supporters of the Left Alliance.

The survey was conducted between 28 February and 1 March. The government made its decision to send armed aid to Ukraine on Monday evening, February 28, so it may have had an impact on the defendants ’views.

At that time, Finland decided to provide Ukraine with 2,500 assault rifles, 150,000 assault rifles with cartridges and 1,500 lump sums.

Refugees Finns, on the other hand, are widely ready to receive from Ukraine.

78 per cent of the respondents to the survey thought that Finland should receive significant numbers of Ukrainian refugees if necessary. 7% of the respondents disagreed with the statement and 15% could not express their opinion.

More than half of the supporters of all parliamentary parties agreed with the statement. In particular, there were supporters of the Greens and the Left on this line, with 90% and 95% answering in the affirmative.

Supporters of basic Finns had the most critical attitude towards Ukrainian refugees. Only 57% of them answered in the affirmative. 20 per cent of basic Finns disagreed with the statement, while 23 per cent could not express their opinion.

Prime minister Sanna Marinin (sd) by The Ministry of the Interior is preparing for the need for Finland to take in refugees from Ukraine.
