Finn software company Tietoevry is evacuating its Ukrainian employees to safer areas.

“We are currently evacuating our employees by bus from hazardous areas to less hazardous areas and other countries,” Tietoevry’s Head of External Communications Reija Sihlman told Helsingin Sanomat on Friday afternoon.

However, due to the ongoing war, men between the ages of 18 and 60 are not allowed to leave Ukraine.

Software company Tietoevry employs just over two thousand IT professionals in Ukraine.

Company has launched a so-called continuity plan aimed at ensuring staff safety and minimizing impact on customers.

“We have continued to evacuate our experts and their families to the safest areas in Ukraine and relocate to Poland and Romania, for example,” the company said. on their website.

Evacuated workers have been provided with hotel accommodation and rental housing, as well as everyday necessities such as sim cards and computers. Bank accounts have also been opened for them.

Tietoevry has also decided to close down its business in Russia.

“We hope that the situation will be resolved soon and that the suffering of the war against the Ukrainians will end,” the company says.
